ELECTRONIC DIVE LOG INSTRUCTIONS

The electronic dive log is now open for submissions from all active NOAA certified divers . Unit Diving Supervisors may still require submission of monthly logs to them even if you have submitted an electronic log. Please check with your individual UDS with regard to Unit dive log requirements. You must still submit a dive log to your UDS by the 5th day of each month for the previous month if you do not file an electronic log, or if your UDS requires it. DO NOT SUBMIT BOTH AN ELECTRONIC LOG AND A PAPER LOG TO NDC FOR THE SAME DIVES . Following are some particulars about the electronic dive log process.

WHO : All currently active NOAA certified divers who are on file at NDC.

WHAT : Electronic dive log submission. An electronic dive log may be submitted to NDC in lieu of the standard NOAA monthly dive log BUT NOT IN ADDITION TO. Individual UDSs will determine if they wish to receive hard copies of monthly diving activity. A hard copy should not be submitted to NDC if an electronic log has been submitted. Divers may want to otherwise document their diving activity outside of the electronic log database.

Users may view their diver profile information, enter new dive logs, or review existing dive logs. There is also a help link to help you navigate the website, and a logout command.

WHERE : http://divelog.ndc.noaa.gov A link to this site will be available from the NOAA diving website in the near future.

WHEN : Starting immediately. Electronic dive logs may be submitted at any time following diving activity. Electronic logs or the standard NOAA monthly dive log should be submitted by the 5th day of the month for the previous month’s diving activity.

HOW :

  1. Access NOAA electronic dive log website (http://divelog.ndc.noaa.gov).
  2. The first time you access the NOAA on-line dive log you will be asked to download a "cab" file from Allaire Corporation. Respond with YES. This is a one time action and you will not see this request again unless you change computer systems. Because this is a large file it may take several minutes to download on a slow connection.

  1. Users must pre-register at the dive log internet site before they will be able to submit logs (first name, last name, e-mail address, proposed password).
  2. You will receive an e-mail confirming your proposed user ID, password, and successful registration for the website. (Users will not be able to gain electronic dive log access until this pre-registration process is complete. Please allow several days for a confirmation message.)
  3. Once receiving confirmation for registration you may gain electronic dive log access at the dive log website using your user ID and password.
  4. Please contact LT Bill Cobb or Sondra Huber with any questions or comments regarding the registration process.end of article
